Accessible construction is mostly about slope and space. The Ramp Calculator turns a total rise and a slope ratio into the horizontal run, the sloped surface length to build, the number of intermediate landings needed, and the handrail length. It applies the common accessibility limits — a 1:12 maximum running slope for new construction, a level landing after every 30 inches of rise, and 60-inch landing lengths — but it sizes the geometry only. It does not check which code edition or occupancy rules your jurisdiction enforces, or edge protection and structural loading. Confirm the design with your building department. Top and bottom landings are required at every ramp but are not included in the footprint figure — add 5 feet at each end.
